Hello Everyone,

I realize that I have been silent in recent days especially in light
of the political environment in Kenya. I have been watching, waiting
and continually calling the Okidis for updates on the status of people
in the community in which they live and work. I spoke to Mr. Okidi
this morning and recorded the call once more so that conversation will
be sent at a later date (when I get around to loading it).

In the interim, the KWG executive had our retreat last weekend which
was productive and a good time at Carolyn's family farm. We look
forward to sharing with all of you the work that came out of it.

Our next KWG meeting is to be held Tuesday, January 29th at 6:15 pm.
Location to be announced. I'd like to potentially meet at 500
University avenue where we can use the teleconferencing services for
people who are unable to travel but I need to book it and will confirm
with you.

The last thing that I would like to mention is that the Kenyan
Community of Ontario is having a fund-raising event this coming Sunday
which all are invited in order to help raise relief money to people
displaced as a result of the current instabilities in Kenya. Please
see below the invitation from Ben Ondoro, the President of KCO.

Kind Regards,

Julie

Subject: [kco-l] KCO Emergency Fundraiser - Sunday January 20th, 2008

Dear Members,

As we already know, the on-going violence across Kenya in recent days
has left thousands of people in urgent need of humanitarian assistance

displaced, over 450 killed and over 1,000 injured.

In response to this humanitarian emergency, the Kenyan Community in
Ontario (KCO) is planning a fund raising event in collaboration with
the Canadian Red Cross so that all the funds raised can be immediately
transferred to the Kenyan Red Cross Team assisting on the ground.

It is therefore my pleasure to invite you on behalf of the Kenyan
Community in Ontario to come out in large numbers for this emergency
fund raising initiative scheduled for Sunday January 20th, 2008.
