Hello friends,
I am pleased to report that Mike and I are back in Arusha Tanzania after a
story book safari adventure... we managed to see some of the most amazing
wildlife in the Ngorogoro Crater, the Serengetti and around Lake Manyara in
Tanzania. Among the highlights were watching a lion hunt zebra along a river
bed only to have her plans foiled at the last moment by a few Maasai boys
herding their cattle,.. we saw a cheetah with its freshly caught prey, we
saw two leopards on separate occasions hiding among the trees and a family
of elephants that walked right up to our vehicle (we were too petrified to
move to take pictures of course). We came across several lions including the
tree climbing ones, a black maned male lion and most spectacular was a pride
of ten females that were play fighting in the morning. Once we are able to
sort the photos out, we will be sending those along.
We managed to catch up with the two students who recently finished their
placements in Kenya and also ironically met up with three other friends that
we did not know were even in the country! The planet is small indeed.
We are both healthy, Mike is much improved and back on his feet again...
thank you for everyone's thoughts and prayers, they were greatly
appreciated.
Tomorrow we will catch a flight to Mwanza on the shore of Lake Victoria in
Tanzania in order to catch a bus back to Rongo in Kenya. We should be back
in Rongo by Thursday and will begin our volunteer work in Mr. Okidi's
community then. It also means that our phone should be back in operation for
those of you who have tried to call us and found the connection has not been
working.
Hope all is well with you and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
God Bless,
Julie
