I was burned in 1994 as a result of an explosion of a tin lamp. The burn was mainly on the back part of my body from my head to my feet. After that I was treated and I had some complications whereby there was a wound in my leg and that is the time when the KWG came. They assisted me and I was taken for plastic surgery (skin grafting) in 2006. It was a successful one. Now I had some room to learn, because when those complications were there, it was very difficult [with the pain]. By then, I was in form 2. After that I continued with my education and reached form 4 and got an A- of 75 points. Now I am waiting to join the University of Nairobi to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree.
To those who have also been burned, you should not lose hope in life. You should always strive to succeed in all that you do no matter the disability you develop as a result of the burn.
